Train to Teach at Mossbourne Federation
Changing lives through exceptional teaching sits at the heart of the Mossbourne Federation.
At Mossbourne, we are proud to offer a training experience grounded in Excellence, No Excuses, and Unity — values that shape every classroom, every interaction, and every trainee’s journey.
Whether you are a recent graduate or a career‑changer ready to make a meaningful difference, our programme provides the challenge, support and professional culture needed to become an outstanding teacher.

Mossbourne Schools are nationally recognised for:
Outstanding academic outcomes and consistently high examination results

A proven track record of developing exceptional teachers and future leaders
A strong sense of community, belonging and shared purpose
As a trainee, you will learn from expert practitioners across the Federation. You will be immersed in a professional environment where excellent teaching is the norm and where every trainee is supported to thrive.
Our Training Model
We work with a range of accredited Initial Teacher Training providers, allowing you to select the route that best suits your circumstances. All programmes lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with many also offering a PGCE.
During your training year, you will:
Begin with a reduced timetable that increases gradually
Receive weekly coaching from an experienced mentor
Access Mossbourne’s bespoke professional development programme
Participate in trust‑wide training and subject networks
Contribute to enrichment, co‑curricular activities and wider school life
Successful trainees may be considered for a permanent teaching role, followed by the Early Career Teacher (ECT) programme on the qualified teacher pay scale.
Our Aims
At Mossbourne, our aim is to develop teachers who are confident, knowledgeable and uncompromising in their belief that every child can achieve. We want trainees who will thrive in a culture where learning is the norm and where professional standards are exceptionally high.
Our teacher‑training programme aims to:
Develop excellent classroom practitioners who combine strong subject knowledge with highly effective pedagogy.
Build resilient, reflective teachers who can work with pace, precision and purpose in a high‑performing school environment.
Equip trainees with the habits, routines and professional behaviours that underpin long‑term success in teaching.
Provide a training year that is both challenging and deeply supportive, ensuring every trainee feels known, valued and guided.
Grow future leaders who will contribute to the Mossbourne Federation’s mission of transforming lives through education.
“My mentor didn’t just help me get through the year — they helped me grow into a confident, capable teacher.”
Our Values
Excellence - Exceptional teaching transforms lives. Trainees join a culture where high standards, purposeful lessons and strong subject knowledge are the norm. You will be supported to develop the clarity, discipline and expertise that define Mossbourne classrooms.
No Excuses - We believe every child can succeed. Trainees learn to hold ambitious expectations and use evidence-informed strategies to help pupils meet them. We take responsibility, act with integrity and continually refine our practice.
Unity - We work as one team. Trainees benefit from shared expertise, consistent routines and a strong sense of collective purpose across the Federation. Collaboration and mutual support underpin everything we do.
Trainees who embrace these values thrive — they are lived daily in our classrooms, corridors and staffrooms.
