Healthy School Meals
At the Mossbourne Federation, we are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and ensuring that all students have nutritious meals so they are able to learn and thrive throughout the school day.
While packed lunches are permitted, our preference is that students enjoy our carefully planned school meals, which are designed to provide a balanced, nutritious diet.
School Meals
All Mossbourne academies are now served by The Pantry, who provide a range of tasty options for our students. They follow all school healthy eating guidelines and use seasonal produce to make a mix of traditional and contemporary options. Vegetarian options, as well as a jacket potato and pasta bar, are available daily.
Menus are rotated on a 3-week basis each term. Here are some example menus.
Meal deals are £2.90 at secondary and £2.60 at primary. However, school lunches are free for all primary school pupils in London and in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in Thurrock.
Our academies are cashless so meals are paid via ParentPay.
For refunds, we kindly ask the parent to complete the attached form and e-mail it to refund@thepantrycatering.co.uk for processing.
Packed Lunch
If opting to bring in a packed lunch, please consider the following guidance.
We ask parents and carers to support us by ensuring that packed lunches:
Promote healthy habits
Maintain a safe environment for students with allergies
Are brought in a suitable, sealed container, clearly labelled with the student’s name
Drinks
The only drinks permitted are water and plain milk
Food
Packed lunches should include:
A balanced selection of food, including a sandwich or main item
Fruit and/or vegetables
A healthy snack
A sufficient amount for the age and stage of development of the child
Packed lunches must not include:
Nuts or nut-based products, e.g. Nutella, peanut butter
Crisps
Sweets & chocolates
Food which requires refrigeration and/or reheating to be safe to eat
For the safety of all, children are not permitted to share food with others, even those who they know well.
Very rarely, a child may have a need that leads to them needing a specialist diet, in which case some reasonable adjustments can be made via a meeting with the SENCO & Class Teacher.
