Mossbourne Community Academy (MCA) is one of the top-performing schools in the country. Consistently ranked within the top 1% of schools nationally for the progress that our students make, MCA has redefined the educational landscape in Hackney and beyond.

Mossbourne Community Academy was last inspected on 28th and 29th September 2021, retaining its previous ‘Outstanding’ rating.  

As Ofsted writes, at MCA, “Nothing is left to chance,” and we work diligently day after day, year after year, to ensure that we are providing the best possible environment for our students to learn. We develop intellectually curious, ambitious and compassionate individuals here who go on to great things, and it is fantastic to see that recognised by the inspectorate. This ‘Outstanding’ result does not mean that we can sit back by any means – we will continue to push for progress, and we look forward to welcoming Ofsted back in the future to demonstrate our unceasing dedication to being one of the nation’s top schools.

GCSE Results

Year on year, MCA students prove that dedication, hard work and ambition can pave the way for bright futures. 

Since our first set of results in 2008, we have continued to set new benchmarks for educational outcomes and standards, proving that all children, regardless of their background, can achieve great things when given the opportunity to do so. Our children and staff raise to the high bar set for them, believing always that they can, and will, fulfil their true potential. 

Latest Results

Huge congratulations to the Mossbourne Community Academy class of 2026 for achieving exceptional GCSE results and the highest ever Attainment 8 score of 6.69. Year on year, MCA students prove that dedication, hard work and ambition can pave the way for bright futures.

 

The Year 11 class of 2026 celebrated top results across the board, with 21% of all grades awarded being a grade 9; 56% of all grades were 7+ and 84% of all grades were 5+. An impressive 81% of students gained a GCSE pass at grade 5 or above in both English and Maths and 88% of students gained a GCSE pass of grade 4 or above in both English and Maths.

Highlights: 

  • 29% of students achieved an Average Point Score of 8.00 or better.

  • 105 students achieved at least 1 x grade 9: 52% of the cohort.

  • 52% students have an APS of 7.00 or better.

  • 39% of all grades are 8+

Subject Highlights: 

English: 

  • 93% achieved 4+ in English.

  • 89% achieved 5+ in English.

  • 66% achieved 7+ in English.

  • 25% achieved a grade 9 in English.

Maths: 

  • 89% achieved 4+ in Maths.

  • 81% achieved 5+ in Maths.

  • 51% achieved 7+ in Maths.

  • 22% achieved a grade 9 in Maths.

English Baccalaureate (over 97% of our students were entered for the Baccalaureate compared to just 40% nationally):  

  • 7+ in Humanities: 58%

  • 7+ in Biology: 100%

  • 7+ in Physics: 100%

  • 7+ in Chemistry: 100%

  • 7+ in Science: 48%

  • 7+ in Languages: 53%

50% or more students entered achieved 7+ in the following subjects: Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Latin, Geography, History, Sport, Art, Religious Studies and Food.
